Who keep maid's passport?

My maid(indonisian) asks me to get her passport from the agent and want to keep by herself. What should I do? Let the agent continue to keep the passport or me to keep? Or let the maid to keep? Pls help.

如果個工人堅持要返個passport,咁妳叫個工人直接同agent講.agent一定打電話黎問妳;不過梗係唔好比佢自己keep返啦.
我上次個工人唔問我,直接走去agent度要取回passport.佢同agent講話要開戶口.我咪同個agent講,叫佢搵人同佢一齊去開戶口.開完叫agent keep返.最後個印梗係冇再去.因為佢係想用黎開電話或借錢.彩佢都傻.

其實最好就問個AGENT"羅"番,再由自己KEEP ....

1. 隨時可以同佢申請VISA等簽証.
2. AGENT公司可以隨時"執"笠,到時想"羅"番都幾難.
因為我個AGENT就係響我"羅"個PASSPORT番黎之後無聲無息咁CLOSE左

my Indonisian maid just came to HK about 10days.
the first day i took her from the agent. i ask the agent where are the passport & contract of my maid.
they said BOTH keep by the indonisian embassy office. not by them (the agent)
if i need, i need call to them & ask them take back from the embassy, it take some days to arrange.
the maid no right to ask them or the embassy take back the passport & the contract.
the agent also said the maid is enough just keep the ID card. the passport & contract for her is not useful in HK. you better ask your maid why she needs ?? !! be careful !!

Thank you for your suggestion. But my agent tell me it is illegel for us to keep the maid's passport. Because the passport is private thing. Is that correct? Actually, I want to keep by myself.

By the way, I also want to ask, if the maid want to open a bank account,only ID is ok? Need passport?

She said, she want to open a bank account. And she also said, she have a friend, after 2 years contract, want to sign another contract, ask the agent the passport,but have to pay a lot of money. So she is afraid, when she ask the agent to give her back the passport, have to pay a lot of money. So she want the passport back now.

i ask the bank, if any maid need to open a/c. ID is enough, no need show the passport & contract.
but the bank need any letter or paper to proof their address, both address --in HK & in indonesia.

my agent also talk to me i have no right keep the passport of the maid.
my pass maid (now not work with me anymore) i ask her gave me the passport, i put the passport inside the see-through plastic bag. i hang up the bag in somethere in my home, both(me & the maid) can see very clear.
in this situation, i am not keep the passport but i know the passport stay in my home all the time.

if the maid after two years contract, she must sign the contract again. if you want use the same maid, you need talk with your agent before one month of two year contract. the maid need to apply the visa again from the HK government. and the agent need to charge the agent fee about hkd5000 ( not all agent charge the same, may be 4000-6000)
the money will share with the maid, normally the maid need to pay 80%. if you want, you can pay all or more than 20%. i think your maid know about this. if you are not sign the contract with her or she can not find the other contract in hk. she need go back to indo. & apply the contract again. she need pay hkd 21000 to the indo. agent.
even she take tack the passport now, when she apply the new contract, she still need to pay the apply fee. you can talk to her or better ask your agent talk to her.

正因為private thing,所以更加要由個master keep...

其實我覺得agent如果諸多藉口而唔想比個passport你,係因為焗我地續約時一定要去番佢地果道續姐....
而家我個工人今年3月要搞續約,正因為passport響我手上,所以可以周圍格下邊個agent d handling 平.

至於bank account , 我就不太清楚了 sorry
