泵奶問題

請問返工後泵奶,你地既泵奶schedule會係點,可分享心得.
另外泵左d奶 e.g. 8a.m. - 6oz , 12p.m. - 5.5oz, 3p.m - 4oz........
但我dd只係食5oz, 可否將不同時間泵出來的奶倒埋一齊??

I pump at lunchtime (around 12 noon) and at around 5:00p.m. each day. I can obtain about 14-16 oz)

You can accumulate the milk, provided that the portions are of the same temperature. For example, within 24 hours (preferably less than that), if the milk is put at the lower compartment, the milk can be mixed together when the portions have been fridged for some time that they are of the same temp. IF the milk has been put in the freezer already, your have to put the newly pumped milk at the lower compartment for some time. THen it can be mixed with the 'iced milk'. BUt, the amount should not be more than the 'iced milk'. Otherwise the milk will go back because the temp is lowered.

Hi FlorashleyTim,

How should we count the expiry date of the mixed milk?
e.g.
On day 1, I pump 6oz milk and freeze it.
On day 2, I add 4oz milk and freeze it.
On day 3, I add 2oz milk and freeze it.

So, what's the expiry date of this bottle of 12oz milk? Is it day 15? Besides, can I transfer this bottle of milk into milk bag for storage?

The expiry date of mixed milk should be count from the day 1, and one milk bag can be store for about 6oz only (brand gerber) and milk bottle can be store for about 8oz.

Usually, I will store the millk in refrigerate for 48 hours only and freezer for 1 month. Remember that the milk store in freezer must be much more than the milk transfer from refrigerate.

of course we can use milk bottles to store la.......but I have about 10 only, so milk bag can help me for storage sometimes lor.

If the milk in the freezer has turned into ice (solid form), can I still add cold liquid milk to it?

Yes, you can.
Remember that the milk store in freezer (solid form) should be more than the milk transfer from refrigerate (liquild form).

Hi CK 1656,

I'll go to work after CNY & now starting to pump milk while feeding. I wonder did u pump both breasts or only one side in each feed? For me, I only pump one side & let my BB to suck the side longer time. I tried pumping the side BB just sucked as well but no more milk. Is it normal?

hi kalle,
我平時泵奶會有2-3次噴奶反射.有時我想泵多些奶, 我會這樣做:
1. 先泵兩邊直至無奶出 (但其實是有奶的, 只是用泵泵不到)
2. 抱bb埋身餵, 同時泵另一邊
bb吸吮其間, 會有多次噴奶反射. bb能吃飽, 另一邊又能泵多些奶.

This method works fine for me. You can try to see if it works for you.

THX. Will try. one more question: Is it better to pump both breasts at the same time? I only have a single medela electric pump that not sure i should buy one more so that can pump both sides at the same time when I'm in the office.

By the way, where in office you do the pumping? I dont want to pump it at the toilet. Is there anyone knows if there is nursing room in Harbour City? I work there.

I use Medela mini electric and Avent manual at the same time, though I have 2 Medela sets because I only have 1 machine (small yellow one). Using 2 pumps can get more milk for me as it creates reflex.

I usually get 2 bottles of 8 oz milk(total 16 0z) from work. I try to pour the suitable amount before putting the bottles in the freezer. My parent-in-law will get say 4 bottles from the freezer and place them in the refridgerator (lower compartment) the night before.

If the packing is not that tidy, say with 3 bottles of 4.5 oz and 2 bags of 2.5oz and 2 oz, she will put all the bottles and bags in the lower compartment. When the milk has been defrozen, she then pours the milk from the bags together to make up a bottle of suitable amount before reheating.

Normally, I'll freeze the milk first.
