Now he only drinks 18 - 20 oz/day. (He drank 30 oz/ day when he was 2-month-old!)
I have tried the following:
1./ wake him up at 0030 and feed him. He cries seriously and refuses to drink (even if I force him to drink, he can only drink 1-2 oz with 十級cry).
2./ wake him up earlier in the morning (e.g. 0600), but he cries and refuses to drink (佢好似一定要瞓夠10 hrs 咁) .
3./ tried to feed him at 4 hrs interval (as before) but he cries and refuses to drink. Even if I force him, he will only drink 2 - 3 oz with 十級cry. However, if the interval is 4.5 hrs, he will be willing to drink 4.5 - 5 oz.
He is very low-weight (only 2.11kg) when he was born and now only 6kg (過去一個月只重左一磅多少少 ja) .
meowmi,
Don't worry lar. Do not force your son to consume milk when he is sound asleep. You do not want to be waken up and asked to have meals neither, right?
It's quite normal to feed the 4-month old 4 times a day; however, 4.5 - 5oz is a bit little. For big appetite baby boys, they usually consume 8 oz, 4 times a day. My son drinks 7oz, usually 5 times a day.
Since your son was only 2.11 kg at birth, he will not have as big as an appetite as other big size baby boys. I would suggest you to keep on feeding him 5 oz at 4.5 hours interval. Do not make your son hate to drink milk. As he develops a regular milk-consuming pattern, then try to increase to 5.5oz at his last feeding at night and first feeding in the morning.
If you still worry about the weight and growth of your son, consult the nurses at the child health center. As long as your son smiles and stays active, you do not need to worry too much about his consumption of milk. Stay happy when feeding him, he will then drink more.
