Hello,
My 2 yr. old son has been using Fluoride-free baby teeth & gum cleanser with enzymes since he was one. If you brush long enough, it should remove the yellow stain, as long as it is not cause by the mother or BB taking certain medicines.
I started to let him brush his teeth twice a day when he was one, and able to feed himself with a fork/spoon. After he has done with "playing" & brushing, then it's my turn to really brush his teeth. I just tell him Mommy has to check for "missing spots" to make sure he doesn't get any cavities. He co-operates most of the time. Or I have to distract him with other things he likes to get a good brushing.
Our pediatrician back in Toronto recommends to start letting him brush once he can hold on to a spoon and not to use adult toothpaste with Fluoride until he fully understands that he can't swallow the toothpaste and has mastered how to rinse with water and not drinking tap water. Mostly around 3 yr old. Swallowing too much fluoride will turn their teeth even more yellow. Of course you have to brush after the BB has finished to make sure it is properly cleaned. You can brush at the same time so BB can learn what he is supposed to do, especially the rinsing and spitting part.
I started cleaning his teeth when he has two teeth, 7 months old.
進進媽媽: I give my son cooled down boiled water in a plastic cup to practise rinsing and spitting. He does it in the bath tub and he has lots of fun immitating me. Unfortunately, he is only able to spit out half of the water, the other half... he swallowed it! We'll keep trying!

gab,
Wa!! Thank you very much for your advice and sharing. Your experience is very useful to me.
I would like to ask if your son can manage to rinse with water by himself now??
