i'm also using photocap to add border and date into the photos. Let me try to summarize my steps for yours reference:
1. after open the photocap, press "Setup" at the upper part.
2. In "Date/Time" Text, click "enable Date/Time". then you may select your own choice of date/time format and fonts.
3. In "hoto Output Setup", click your select output photo size such as 4R -> 4x6, 3R -> 3x5, also select 100% for "Compress quality".
4. Then you may close the "setup" windows. And click "loan photo image" to select those photos you want to add the 'date'. Then click "ok".
5. You may already find the photos with the date/time in the screen. You may then adjust the date/time position by moving it.
6. If you move the date/time position of one photo and you want to apply it to all other photos, select "apply setup".
7. Now, you need to output the photos, click "batch output". You may want to save the photos into a new folder in order to keep the original one.
8. Then the photocap will run for a short while to processing all the photos. After that, you may go to your selected folders for the photos with date/time added.
