I want to ask if 聖保祿醫院 is good or not. My doctor recommend me to have my baby there. Pls give comment (both price and the quality of the service). Many thanks!!
I just discharged fm St Paul's last Sat (Mar 6), 2 friends of mine told me it's around 35K-38K for c-sect'n (開刀), package (7days/6nites). As I was only staying 5 nites (my husband was working on the last day, couldn't accompany me home), so I didn't join the package.
And u know what, the outcome of the bill was surprising! Only $30,450 in total!! And I was staying at 'C' bed which was the most spacious among the 3 beds (usually 'B' bed reserves for mainlanders as I heard)
Yes, there were quite a lot of mainlanders in the hospital, but they won't bother u anyway, so not that of a big deal I think who's around u.
PS: The surgery charge fm the doctor working at St Paul's is only $10K, anathesthetic $3.2K. And the belly button (肚臍) they managed for my baby is very nice, that's what I heard fm the 健康院 nurse yesterday.
if u don't join the package, some necessary charge as follows:
for operation 開刀 (one time charge):
~$6,500 in total (includg shaving hair, injection/medicine fee, operating theatre/materials)
Each day for you:
1) room charge/day: $550
2) swabbing twice/day: $45x2 = $90
(cleaning of pubic area, those nurses will ask u each time whether u need this service. I chose to hv it anyway cos I didn't want any infection)
3) medicine charge: ranged fm $10-$28/day for me
Treatment for your baby (one time charge):
~$750 in total (including incubator 暖箱 $60, injection fee $60, dressing/treatment $317, laboratory $320.)
Each day for your baby:
1) nursery/day: $200 (including cleaning/feeding), you may choose your desired band of milk
2) diaper/day: $50 (this charge is a bit expensive ...!)
That's it for you & your baby charged by the hospital, the other charges would be fm your doctor/baby's doctor, anaesthetist etc.
Sorry I just had my computer fixed this morn & read your message.
I was planning to hv my delivery @東區 hospital 1st, but afraid of the labor pain & changed to St Paul's @the last moment. My friends recommended me Dr 方敏豪, so I took all the documents fm 東區 for his reference. I just saw him once then decided to hv the surgery next wk.
Surgery on Feb 28 Mon 0930 & discharged on Sat morn before 1200, stitches off ~1030 (1200 is the cut off time for room charge, I stayed for 6D/5N).
But u can always discharge first if u feel ok & go back for off stitches afterwards.
It's better to choose operat'n in the morn, so u can hv another half day recovering time.
FYI, his practice is to cath u (挿尿喉) after putting u asleep (麻醉), while I heard fm my other friends, their doctors are the other way round.
I chose to hv 全身麻醉, couldn't bear to know or think what was going on during the process, though I worked as a student nurse before & should be bold enough, hahaha .....
And u can use credit card for all the charges while other outside doctors can't.
He's nice, scar is ~13 cm, just not that horizontal (wonder if this is normal?); guess it's ok when time goes by & the scar fakes out.
Nurses in the ward I met were ok, maybe I'm not that demanding, as long as my baby was healthy at that moment & didn't need any extra treatment.
Wow!! You gave a very detailed description, thanks! I will have an outside doctor and she can do the delivery in St. Paul. But she told me the payment can be settled by credit card as well, including the doctor's fee even she is not St Paul's doctor.
I am actually thinking of whether I should have operation. My baby still doesn't turn her head down and also with the cord around her neck (1 round). Will need to have further check up before final decision. But I afraid that the recovery after operation will be more slower then natural birth. How is your condition now? Does it still hurt you?
Hi, when is your due date? Cord around the neck may be a serious problem. The recovery after operation is not that worse but of course it is much slower than normal delivery. The most important thing is the safety of the baby.
