本人原本打算2013全家move去澳洲，但不幸大女(only2-yr old)患了一個很rare disease，剛剛做了個大手術，好彩的是個disease under control，不過將來的日子也會時常返醫院覆診，好想問澳洲的醫療好嗎？如果我地去了澳洲，個女係果邊可以點覆診？同埋我地可以點搵醫院接我個女做case呀？
You elder daughter is same month with my daughter so I know you two years ago.
Actually I am a "long-term" patient, my problem was found in OZ and the doctors in public hospital follow up my case so good. My sister, she is in HK, has the same problem, she just found it out recently but it is too late for her.
I totally agreed with JA6803 that "等睇specialist嘅時間會短香港好多", and basically it is free of charge.
The only concern for me is communication as some "words" they use we may not fully understand.
I believe Oz is better then HK for medical treatment. I have minor sugery on my shoulder last week done at GP, bulk bill (free). Same thing I did back in Hk couple years ago, HK$2-3k.
I knew a friend who passed away with cancer, in HK, public hospital said to extend her life have to take a injection once a week for the cost of HK$10k (because that injection is not gov listed medicine). She came here immediate admit to public hospital and got the injection next day, for free.
That is reason why we paid higher tax and medicare levy. In HK, middle class all look after yourself but in Oz, if you are really sick, Gov willl look after you. Also you have safety net protection which you won't paid too much out of pocket money for medical treatment.
Specialists will communicate by letter and phone.
From my experience, Australia is such a small place, most specialists know each other already, even from different diciplines (eg. ear/nose/throat specialist and sleep apnea specialist).
Actually i m in Sydney and my daughter have chorosome disorder which effect her hearing, grow & physhical development. But she get free hearing aids from Australia Hearing Centre (until she turn 18yrs old), she have free speech threapy lesson everyweek. only base on these 2 support i think is far more better than in HK. + as my daughter going to the Westmead Children Hospital for pediatrics, genetic, all her x-ray,CTscan,blood reports, ultrasound they have record in the copmuter system, all connection throught differenct department.
But most important is you have a full report about your daughter's case from HK, than come here n see GP and get referral to book in the specialist.
