INFORMATION PERTAINING TO CAREGIVER POSITIONS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

Minimum Salary $ 1,408.00 gross monthly (approximately $921.00 net monthly - after all deductions) Room and Board $ 325.00 monthly Hours of work 40 hours a week in 5 working days Vacation Two weeks paid vacation at the end of one year or 4% of the total gross earnings. Duties Childcare, housekeeping, laundry, ironing and meal preparations. Expenses Income Tax, Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan and BC medical insurance. Requirements Application form completed, recent photographs (preferably with children), two or more letters of reference pertaining to childcare and housekeeping (covering at least twelve months of experience) or certificates showing a minimum of six months full-time training (teacher, nurse, etc ) as well as character references, and a "Dear Family" in your own handwriting, introducing yourself to a prospective employer. Work Permit All foreign applicants will require an employment contract before being allowed to apply for a work permit at the Canadian Embassy. Applicants may be required to have a personal interview at the Embassy as well as a medical examination. There is a fee of $150.00 charged for these proceedings. Commitment These positions are for one full year and a certain commitment is expected. The contract can be renewed for a second year. After completion of the second year, applicants may apply for a landed immigrant status in Canada.

Have found out and extracted the following from the website of Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (an official website of the Phil Govvernment.)

Requirement for Filos to work as nannies in Canada:

  • Successful completion of the equivalent of a Canadian high school education. (Filos of Philippine High School Level have to complete an additional 2 years of studies in order to have the equivalent of Canadian High School.)
  • Within the last 3 years, you must have completed 6 months of full-time formal training in a field related to the job you want in Canada; or, you must have completed 12 months of full-time paid employment (please note this must include at least 6 months of continuous employment) in a field related to the work you want to do in Canada.
  • Ability to speak read and understand either English or French.

i just found that my bun bun have a "live in caregiver program contract", which is listed the employer name, address and 2 kids, (4.5 & 2). dated on 9mar2010.
and one letter 'labour market opinion confirmation for #..... to the employer, dated on 29mar2010.
and she have a draft "application for a work permit made outside fo cananda", dated 29march 2010.
is it means she have already got offer from canada and just wait for visa?
i'm bit angry cause i just renew her contract by end of feb, and she agreed will updated me the information (i knew she want to go cananda).

In the past, only u-grads can apply. Now the flood gates are open, we will have a lot of trouble as they can walk after giving 1 month's notice. What about us?

OMG. Why does Canadian Govt want to import so many Philippinos? Living standard in Canada is very high. Thanks to the new immigrants from China. How can a Philippino support family reunion!???? Sooner or later, we have to hire mainland chinese as domestic helper!

I don't have experience but judging from these I bet she has come to the final stage of waitng for job visa approval. Be prepared!

thanks! that's what i thought so, i have already called my agent, ask them to sent me some maids to select.
but my maid is good, she never black face, never talk over the phone.
