anybody had sucessfully claimed Travel Insurance??
my 1.5 years old daughter got high fever yesterday and so we couldn't get on the plane to Tokyo this morning (me, my husband and my mother all couldn't go to Tokyo). however, the package that i paid was not refundable and i have bought the travel insurance from Blue Cross. i am not sure if i could claim back the money that i have paid.
Re: anybody had sucessfully claimed Travel Insurance??
Do try your luck. First of all, whether you get compensation depends on the insurance policy.i.e., does it cover untravelled journey. The first thing you need to do is call their hotline and report your case and ask them what you can do. They will ask you to download a claim form from their website and sent the form back to them with all necessary documents. And perhaps you need medical certificate to support your claim too.
Two years ago my family and I were travelling to Paris via London when the flight was cancelled when we arrived in Heathrow Airport (because of strike put up by airline staff). I finally claimed compensation from Blue Cross, but mind you the process is tedious, time consuming and the staff unhelpful and irresponsible. Keep good track of what the staff said, because different people say different things.

Lauren,
I had the same experience w/u last summer. my son got bronchitis 2~3 days before departure and I requested my doctor's wrote a letter stating that he was advised not to be out of town!
i also bought a non-refundable but date changeable package! so, I told the insurance agent that I aimed to claim back the difference for my package (it is because my original departure date was under non-peak price, but I had to postpone it under peak price, so there was a difference!!!). Then, I submitted both the doctor letter and a quotation from my travel agent which stating the price difference to the agent!
Eventually, it was successfully fully claimed the whole difference! And, they are very efficient and helpful in my case!!! It only took 2-3 weeks to process!
