Maid ask for passport to open bank account. Is it alright?
My indo maid said she need her passport to open bank account. It is an indonesia bank located in Causeway Bay that open in Sunday also. (Do any moms know that bank?) She said that when she go back to indonesia she does not need to close account in HK and can withdrew money in indonesia directly.(Is it ture?) HK ID,Indonesia ID and contract can not open account but passport.

May be she wants you to ask agent to get back her passport only. If she got the passport in hand, she can goes to any agents to register for further employment. And if you kept her passport, it is unlawful to do that. If you let her to keep by herself, she can run away at anytime. I think HKID can open the account, no need passport indeed.

I had made a call to this indo bank, as said by my maid that it only open on Sun(Causeway bay) and passport is needed to open account.
I will trust my maid this time. Good luck to myself.
