primary and secondary schools are divided into zones. U did not even tell us which district u live in (which zone), how can we give u advice? Are u prepared to let a 2-3 year old travel for 1 hour to and from school even if it is really really famous? Is it worth it? Not for me.
Unless u pay for private, you most likely go to the school in your own zone for primary school, unless u "knock door" for another district or is a past student there. They ask for address proof so don't lie.
Private schools are not nec better, but definitely more expensive.
Private schools have "one line dragon" but if the grades are bad, u still get kicked out.
NOTHING is guranteed. No seat is guaranteed, u still have to fight for it with outsiders with better grades!
My friend's son went into a band 1 school and got kicked out.
Also, famous kindergarten may not be suitable for every kid. Some kids are smart, some kids are not. Like 'So Chit' in North Point, private school, all putonghua in teaching, reciting Chinese poems at age 2!!! shocking! but teachers are old fashioned and tough. Some kids cry their eyes out and the parents have to change school in mid-term. Some kids love it.
Which is the best school also depends on what type of kid u have. Very obedient and loves to study or like to run around and does not obey or read books.
