As I know, there should be 2 types of Internet connection, it will depends on which ISP.

For PCCW, SONET, you need to use the broadband dialup to connect to the Internet, username and password is needed.

For icable, you don't need to provide username and password. That means you are always connected while your Windows is startup.

If your computer is connect to a router, you are always online and no need to setup
