Hi my husband and I are thinking about migration to Australia. Since my husband is a dentist, he wants to try to apply the Public Sector Dental Workforce Scheme, in which he can work and also take the exit examination for his liscence registered within three years.... we still have no ideas whether they still have vancacies. It seems there may be job openings in Tasmania next year....
1. Anyone staying in Tasmania? How's the living environment over there?
2. I was a social worker, having 8 yr experience and now is a full time mother. Should I apply for the skill migration first? Coz it's easier for my academic qualification getting recognized. My husband has to take the examination for dentist registration... at least one or more years....
3. Any suggestions for easier ways to migrating to AUS?
I lived in Australia as a skilled migrant b4 (many yrs ago) and am planning to relocate back there next year. I took my family for a holiday in Melbourne last week. It was very nice and pleasant. But living cost is really high there compared to Hongkong...well I suppose u pay for quality. Anyway it is difficult to speak for everybody. I think if you are interested, best to take a holiday there, book a furnished accommodation in a residential area to feel what it is like to live as a local. Oz is changing its migrant policy and u need to do your research by browsing diff sites. To start off, try these http://www.hongkong.china.embassy.gov.au/hkng/Visas_and_Migration.html
As a social worker, you do get a high score- 60 and should have no problem in getting a skilled migrant visa for yourself (your husband then as family). With that visa, u have no restriction regarding where u wanna live n work.
Good luck.
