For my new indo maid......
Agent asked me to issue 7 posted cheque of HK$3,000 each to a Finance Company for the maid. Then I only pay HK$270 each month for her first 7 month's salary. Is it proper??????? Pls. advise..
I don't think it's proper to do so. It maybe the agency fee of your maid need to backpay to the agent. Did your agent let you know this arrangment at the very first beginning? I think you should full pay your maid (HK$3270 or $3320 for new contract) and let your maid to deal with the agent on her own (about her backpay). I am just thinking the agent want to make sure she gets the money from the maid. What about if this maid is not suitable for you and you need to change again. What about the purpose of the cheque at that time? For a tricky thinking, the maid may sue you of being under-paid.

We MUST pay the maid 3,270 and let the maid to backpay 3,000 to the agent/financial company by her own, it's also the way my maid did. We MUST ensure that we pay legal salary to the maid and ask her to acknowledge receipt, then it's her responsibility to repay not you. You will be in danger if you only pay her $270 as #13 mentioned. Ask the agent to deal with the maid, tell them that you will pay in full to the maid.

The agent never mention this arrangement to me b4. The immegeration dept. approved the visa today and the agent said the maid can arrive HK tomorrow (so soon??? I expect Friday ga..but I'll pick up the maid tomorrow coz I don't want her to stay in the bordering room as those maids --some are part time, are not good.領教過 la). I will 拖住 agent until I pick up the maid. After that I will do as what you suggested.
Actually, I've read some case that the employer had been sued by the maid about 'under pay' in similar case but I forget. I'm not 'clear mind' at this moment. Thank you for reminding me.....

Check the passport of your new maid to see whether she is actually fly from her place of origin. I really doubt about your agent. You should keep the copies of passport and HKID of your new maid.
You MUST pay your maid full amont ($3270 or 3320). NEVER pay any 'portion' to the agent. Remember I told you the case during June lunch gathering, the employer was fined over $10,000 as the maid sued her for under-paying.
You never know if the maid and agent set this up for you.
For the 7th month's salary, HK$3,000 enter to the agent's a/c, HK$270 pay to my maid directly, but the salary receipt must marked HK$3,270 for signing by my maid. I know this arrangement before my maid come to HK, the agent said that they need to reduce my maid agent's fee for sharing to HK agent and Indo agent. And also, I asked my maid do you know this arrangement then she replied yes.
