I'm quoting from another forum of a similar case with yours. "You can adjust your status to that of a permanent resident (green card) while staying inside the US. Just be prepared to prove that when you enter the US on your visit B2 visa, you did not have the intention to Adjustment of Status (AOS)." If you already have plans to immigrate to the US, it's better to apply for immigration visa in HK.
i think there might be a risk of being denied if you applied for adjustment for status. and the process might even take longer ...
the most common case for adjustment of status that i heard of is those who landed with financee status and then applied for green card once they got married.
u might wanna consult with an immigration lawyer before making decision.
Agreed with two other moms opinion.
If you planned to do it.. by getting to US and adjust your status, you are playing with fire, not wise at all. I would recommend you to do it, file it in hk.

If it takes a long time to adjust your status, it would be hard for you and your daughters. Without green cards, you cannot apply for a job. Nobody will hire you without a permission to work in US. I'm not sure if your daughters can apply for schools either.
