As I know, date and time can be displayed through RCA, but no date and time will be displayed through IEEE 1394. You can use "DV Stamp" software to display it, but it is not a freeware.
You MUST capture the DV tape as "DV" format, the file/date information are stored in the .avi file. You need to use special software to read it. I'm also looking for a software to capture these information into DVD subtitle for a long time, I just found it can be done using Ulead DVD Workshop 2.
