If you use your $ to buy that flat, and you will pay the mortgage by yourself, I don't think there are any problems ...........
However, if the $ are save by both of you, then you should talk with your wife before.

are you bought "waterfront" or "Sorrento"? is it have a tenant? if yes, when the contract finished, is it possible talk to your tenant give them 2 months notice to move out, then you can move in.
recently the property price at kowloon station are up crazy, thanks "harbourside", so you may ask the agent how much for your apartment, see how much you can make, maybe you can cover your stamp duty and still have some profit.
