don't worry too much lah. bb under six month will not 發燒 easily, unless after vacinne injection. (the nurse will tell you what to do.)
耳探機 does not work very well with new born baby, I recommend you buy the digital one. The nurse will teach you how to use the digital one while you are in the hospital. So You don't need to worry too much gar.

My daughter suffered from fever when she was 6 months, 8 months and 12 years old. Don't worry, mostly, the temperature of infant and toddle is a little bit higher than us. If body temp. below 100F they are not having fever. I think the 耳探機 is reliable which most private hospital are using them. According to my experience, you'd better buy an insurance for your baby because when their temp. goes up to 103 or 104 you need to send them to hospital. Of course private one is better than the government one. (my girl had this experience twice). Coz the nurses will take care of them very well. My girl didn't bought any insurance beofre she was 6 months, but right after she first time to hosptial, I bought one for her. P.S. I am not an insurance agent, I just share my experience with you. Let your baby to take a bath with warm water when her temp. doesn't go down, it's a very good way to reduce temp.

first of all I am not an insurance sales, so i'm just telling you more personal experience -
my son had fever (102.5) when he was 1.5 months old. i was very scared and it was in the middle of the night so i sent him to St Teresa's rightaway although i didn't buy insurance fr him. The bill of course was very expensive :( ...so I tell all my friends that are moms to be that you must buy insurance fr babies once they are born because you never know what could happen to them, especially if you're a working mother and your helper is taking care of your baby.
the second time he had fever (3.5 months - 102) i was more experienced - i take him a shower first to see if the temp goes down. it did go down to 101 and he finished his milk, play like normal so i stick the cooling pad on his forehead and let him sleep. wake up every 3 hours to check his body temp and brought him to the doctor first thing in the morning.
if your bb is under 3 months old and has a fever, bring him to the doc or hospital immediately, DO NOT WAIT even if it is in the middle of the night coz babies under this age very seldomly has a fever. fr older babies, try taking a shower first as most likely the temp will go down. then you can consider whether or not to give him 退燒水. some say that its not very good to give him too often as his system will get used to the medicine and will not be effective. fr me, i try not to give him too much medicine unless his fever persist. good luck !
My girl's case is similar to yoru girl. I haven't bought an insurance for her when the first time we sent her to hospital (I sent her to St. Paul), then I tried to buy one for her but the insurance company didn't accept it. I really don't know why? She just suffered from flu, it isn't any special desease. Did you buy insurance for your baby now? Did the insurance company accept it? If yes, which company you are buying? The one that decline my application is AIA.
