Hi All: Everyone said "The first few weeks were the hardest". For me, my second try is easier than the first time. Actually, I found my first two months were real easy this time. Baby is willing to suck on both sides, milk arrives the next day after we left the hospital, and baby were waking up twice at night only at 2 months.
However, it is getting harder and harder to BF my daughter. She gets distracted so easily. She will stop nursing and turn to the source of sound (my maid / my 2 yr old son / neighbours...). She will not nurse for more than 10 mins. so I still have to feed her quite often. The worse part is she is now waking up like 3 times through the night to nurse for just 5 mins. and then she will fall back to sleep. She used to wake up only once at around 3am when she was 2 and 3 months old. I'm exhausted..... what can I do to make her wake up less at night? She is already 5 months old. Is it because teething is bothering her (no teeth yet and gums are not swollen). A growth spurt can't last for one month?! :-( :-( :-(
Re: How come my baby is waking up so much at night?
sam_charlie_brown: Thank you for your reply.
pigulu: I know that bottle fed babies are sometimes fed with water only during night time feedings to help them learn how to sleep through the night. Do you know if this method will work with BF babies?
Re: How come my baby is waking up so much at night?
gab,
yes, i heard about this too, but i don't know if this works for bf babies..... since i'm a working mom, and sleeping is so important to me...... And that's one of the reason why I feed her when she wake up at night.....
1. It's the easiest way to comfort her to sleep again.
2. It's also the easiest way for me since I can continue to sleep and no need to wake up to prepare the bottles / water etc.....
But anyone has this experience? Does it work? If so, I will consider to do so, to educate her..
