I am going to give birth in U.K. My relatives told me that if I want to rent a apartment/flat/house in U.K. The start date of the contract should be from 1st day of each month. Can anyone tell me if this is true??
Also, anyone lives in Thurrock?? do you know anyone can rent their house for a short-term basis. Like 3 months??? Thanks

I think even if rental is according to the calendar month, you can start anytime and pay the rent pro rata.

It's not necessary to begin the tenancy from the 1st of the month. I think most landlords are not willing to do short-term tenancy unless you offer to pay all 3 months rent + deposit in one go.
