My colleague takes 115 or 115p every morning to Central and she said the bus will arrive WP at 8:30am and she usually can arrive Central between 9:00am and 9:15am.
I believe you can arrive the Wanchai Police Station in 30 mins. because my colleague sometimes can arrive Exchange Square in 35 mins. I prefer to take ferry to Central. If you don't want to take ferry or bus, you can take minivan 6 to Jordan or TST MTR station.
I lived in Whampoa for 8 years and I feel comfort with its traffic.
Every time when there is typhoon arrives HK, I am happy I do not need to rely on MTR. So no MTR is not a weakness for me to choose Whampoa. My friend lived in Lamtin before and she is also very happy to live in Whampoa now. So no need to worry. 30 mins stay in Whampoa is impossible except last time we have the Outdoor Playground here. Maybe they mixed up with Tokwawan or Hunghom with Whampoa.
Depends on what time between 0800 - 0900. Actually many many #6 in the morning due to lots of people like #6. If lucky, you can get on the van without queuing up. If unlucky then you may wait 5 or 8 min. You do not need get to TST. You can get off at Austin Road/Nathan Road then take MTR at Jordon Station. From Whampoa to Jordan Station within 10 min by #6. Many Whampoa people used to this for taking MTR, very convenient.
