Confused by the so-called "Progressive Christianity"?
Recently, there've been quite some "progressive" messages posted in this column. I write this article not to argue with any "progressive" personalities (you may have your own views as you prefer), but to offer some alternative viewpoints from the Bible FOR THE SAKE OF THOSE WHO MAY FEEL CONFUSED.
It has been written:
"We’ve very different experience in christianity. but this doesn't matter. not even the 12 disciples agreed with each other, not to talk about millions of christians in this world now."
That's true. Peter said to Jesus, "You are the Son of God", while Judas, who called Jeuse Rabbi (Matt 26:49) and whom Jesus called friend (Matt 26:50) betrayed Jesus. SO: the name of "disciples" may not be a Q-Mark, not to talk about that of millions of "christians" in this world now.

"recommend a book to all christians:
"Meeting Jesus again for the first time" from Marcus Borg. this is one of the books bringing me back to god again."
Always be careful of the god others are introducing to you, even they name that god with a familiar name. It's no new tricks. The Isrealite were led to worship a molten calf which Aaron, a priest, claimed to be the gods that brought them out of Egypt. (Exodus 32:2-5 : And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it , he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.)

""BUT u've to accept that there're some christians in the world that do not take the bible literally (i.e. not word by word), but also metaphorically."
The Bible is not to be taken literally only or metaphorically only. Sometimes you have to consider the historical and cultural background, sometimes the context, sometimes the grammatical and rhetorical aspect, and sometimes even to be interpreted by other scriptures in the same Bible. However, I do see that not everyone accept the authority of the Bible. It's no new trick, too. Even in Paul's day he saw it. So Paul reminded us to be cautious about that.
"I Timohty 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"
"II Peter3:16-18 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."
Some final reminders:
"Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"
"Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."
