Which recording mode ?

Which of the following recording mode should be used when recording 1 hour DV tape to DVD recorder (DVD-R disc) via the IEEE 1394?

a) 2 hours (SP mode)
b) 1 hour (Excellent mode)

What is the minimum/best bit rate required for the above recording please?
