Any good recommendations? Our family (including a 5 years old and a 1.5 years old) is going to Club Med Sohoro in early February, and I am thinking to stay in Saporro for a few days and is looking for hotel information. Any good hotel that is near the Sapporo JR station? i.e. minimum hassle in terms of transporation because we are taking 2 small kids in a cold weather.....thanks for any comments.
JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo 和 Century Royal Hotel 分別在 JR 札幌站的左邊和右邊.
i think JR Tower is more expensive but it is directly accessible from the station.
I pass by Century Royal , looks alright. there is direct underground access to the station, so you won't need to bring the kids in open air.
if you are bringing the kids, i think these are better choices, coz it is very, very cold and it was snowing quite a lot last week.
i tried the Keio Plaza this time, but there is no through road to it, you need to go outside to reach it and the rooms are rather small.
Thank you bblccj, I knew about the snow festival and hence we are moving our dates to avoid that week. My main worries now is the weather, whether it will be too cold to be enjoyable to my 2 young kids, especially seeing the news that Japan has too much snow this year.
Sheraton is actually situated near Shin Sapporo JR Station, not the main Sapporo station, so if you want to go shopping at JR tower, Apia, Seibu, Baby Hompo etc, you need to take the JR for 1 station. But if you take the MTR, you need to ride for some 10 stations or so. I think it is more convenient to stay near the main station as basically everything is within walking distance if the weather is fine.
just found on the web that there is a Toyoko Inn near the Hokkaido university which is cheaper and within walking distance from the station. but don't expect too much from this hotel, the price is good. i haven't stayed in this one yet.
Sheraton is quite big as far as i could remember, but not very convenient for shopping and eating. but that was from five or six years ago, there might have been more things there now.
it is convenient in the sense that if you are travelling to Otaru ( Siu Chun), or Niseko ( Yee Sai Koo), then it is one JR station closer.
I think Cathay Pacific is making a promotion with that hotel, please check at their website.
