Let the kids see you reading books all the time, and make up your own story topics or contents from the books (never read stories line by line) that they maybe of interest for them, and buy hard-cover books for them to play and to chew. Make it fun, and don't force them. Let them choose books in the bookshops.

Agree! 你睇書BB就會學你。我自己鐘意睇書，行開書局會買定D兒童書，久唔久ling本出來送俾佢，仲執左格書架俾佢，佢叫個度做圖書角，會自己ling書睇，睇完會自己放番好。

Agree! My baby likes to read books very much and she will put the books back to the shelf after reading them. I also put those board books at the lower part of the shelf such that she could pick them by herself anytime. My baby also goes to the library everyday, in this way, she could observe how other kids read the books and she then follows them.

係呀，我都係喺屋企整咗個圖書角(小型書架)俾囝囝，等佢可以自由攞D書嚟睇，睇完又可以跟手教佢擺返好 :mrgreen:
同埋我每晚都會同佢講完故事書先訓覺(本書會一路讀一路俾佢一齊睇)，囝囝就算嗰晚好眼訓，都要我講完故事書先訓得安樂

我都有set 個書櫃比囝仔, 方便佢自己去攞, 又盡量每晚都抽時間陪佢睇書, 如果佢顧住玩, 我都喺佢面前睇, 我有我睇, 佢有佢玩, 我諗遲早佢會埋黎既

我個女而家歲半多d她都好鍾意睇圖書,每次都坐定定係張凳到睇書同埋見她睇得好開心,而出街去書局又會拎d書睇(好似大人噤 )

Thanks. You can make reading a game!! Why not? E.g. when she reads "A", I will ask her to find something else at home starts with "A" and point to me, then, she will run here and there to look for the items. Or, I will ask her "A is for ...." and wait for her answer "Reading with Baby" does not mean we all need to sit at the table and read page by page, this is no fun, even adult will feel boring. I never expect my baby to sit still and finish a book page by page (and to be frankly, she never sits still), instead, I like "活動教學"!

你真係好識教囡囡呀 我都想帶囝仔去圖書館, 不過我諗我要wkend 先可以囉, 因為平日要返工, 工人又唔可以代勞(sure 唔放心 ), 希望我囝仔都有日可以好似你囡囡咁啦
係呢, 你日日帶囡囡去圖書館, 你係咪都由得佢掂下d 書架 我怕囝仔去到攪d 書呀

I would like to share a story here: when I was young, I liked to buy books, but because I loved books very much and didn't want to make them dirty or looked like being used, I just wrapped them nicely, put them in the book-shelf, and never read them. Years later, those books are still in my book-shelf, besides spending money buying them, I have NOT learnt a word or anything from these books, although they are still pretty looking in my book-shelf... Then I realize that it is those books which look ugly and dirty in my book-shelf broaden my mind and increase my knowledge, and it is all because I read them and read them many times.

Now, I never worry about my baby making the home dirty or tearing the books, as this means that she explores the home and uses the books. If she wants to try how it looks like when pouring the water onto the sofa, I let her do it. If she wants to see whether she could draw on the screen of the laptop, I let her do it. If she wants to sit on the grass and touches the soil, I let her do it... although it might be a mess, she learns through the experience and experiment. I would rather have all her books look old and dirty than having all the books look clean and untouched.

FYI, I let my maid bring my baby to the library. I showed her a few times at the very beginning, explaining to the maid how to borrow books and which sections of the books are suitable for babies. Then, I brought them to the library, observed a few days and checked whether my maid can handle it... then, I let them go during weekdays. But at the end, it is because the library is very close to my home, I feel comfortable to let the maid take the baby. If it is far away, I will be 唔放心 as well.

Babies will know their way in the library, they will observe how other elder kids are doing, and they just copy. Don't worry!

真係好多謝你既分享, 其實我都有比囝仔掂d 書架, 不過有時真係未睇佢已經撕爛左咯 不過我喺度諗其實佢對d 書有興趣先去搞姐
至於圖書館, 我就一定唔可以比工人帶佢去喇, 因為最近個間都要坐車去架 或者等我一有機會就自己帶啦

我響我bb細細個時(約8個月大), 已開始日日抱佢坐響自己大脾講故事比佢聽, 我會講到好浮誇, 扮晒聲, 引起佢注意, 提起佢興趣, 當已成習慣後, 佢自然對睇書好有興趣! 我bb而家22個月大, 佢好鍾意睇書, 如果我返左工, 佢就會自己一個睇書, 自己讀, 跟住哈哈大笑, 自得其樂. 當我放工返屋企後, 佢就會去拎埋本書坐響我大脾, 要我同佢一齊睇/讀, 果種感覺好warm :mrgreen:

我想請問妳會講哪類型的書給10個月大bb呢?? 有時真的不知道要買什麼書去講 , 可否舉些例子呢??

我都有比迪土美語我囡囡，佢幾個月己經坐定定睇，佢好似識咁，其他就睇得冇咁耐，所以我覺得佢好鍾意，而且我都買Ｄ發声的故事書同佢一齊玩，我諗咁都可以培養一吓Ｄ興趣！
