nn and joshua ma,
is the 飯 you mean is really 飯 or 爤飯?
Cko,
爛飯, about 3/4 bowl of an adult size bowl. Some babies loves congee (liquid/soft) and eat little 爛飯, some babies love 飯 (solid/hard) and eat little congee... so, you need to observe your baby and see what does he like. If he likes the texture, he will eat lots of it, so, don't worry about the portion.
My niece also "keeps the food inside her mouth for long time without swallowing it" when she was young. Then, I realize that it is because the maid put everything into 1 spoon, i.e. some rice + some vege + some meat into 1 spoon, and babies use to spend MORE TIME to chew meat and vege than rice, especially MEAT. So, the solution to this issue is to give rice/ vege/ meat separately into different spoonfuls, i.e. feed 1 spoon of just rice, then the baby will swallow it very fast; then, feed 1 spoon of just meat, the baby will need little bit more time to chew and swallow, but since you know he is chewing meat, you don't need to hurry him; then give him a spoon of just vege, again, depends on texture, if it is melon, can chew and swallow very fast, but it is green vege with fibre, this takes longer time. As long as you know this basic rule, you will feel less frustrated in feeding. If you want to speed up the process, you can also feed rice and melon/vege first before feeding meat. Hope this helps!!
Baby is NOT 唔識吞, he/she just does not like the texture of meat, i.e. does not want to 吞. This happens to my niece and my maid's son. My maid's son also does not like to 吞 meat, he kept the meat in his mouth "OVERNIGHT", my maid told me that she found her son still had the chicken in his mouth the other day
If it is 爛飯, how long it takes to feed the baby?
Becasue Sheung Heng loves to play while eating, so it takes almost 1/2 hr to feed him one bowl of congee. sometimes, i donno he is full or hungry, he just likes to play and doesn't 吞.

Hi cko,
Hoyin's meal timetable:
7:30 to 8am milk 8oz
8:30 to 9am Breakfast (cereal/porridge with fresh fruit)
10 to 10:30 morning tea (fruit or biscuits or cup cake or pikelets (homemade).
11:30 to 12 lunch (soft rice with meat & vege 1/2 adult bowl)
nap for 2 hours
2:30 to 3pm milk 8 oz
4 to 4:30 afternoon tea (same as morning tea but different everyday)
5:30 to 6pm dinner (same as lunch & will have fruit with us afterward)
7pm milk 8 oz
He eats breakfast by himself (about 10mins & things everywhere).
I feed him at lunch (about 5 mins and clean)
My hubby feeds him at dinner (about 5 mins and clean).
He doesnt like to eat meat (I cook) very much but he likes fish so I cook fish quite often & mince meat for him.
He does tend to eat meat for a little longer so I try to give me chicken & fish nuggets at tea time to train him. He is doing quite well.
He used to play a lot at meal time (grandparents' teaching) & we didnt allow him to do it.
After a few times "no meal if he plays" then he became a lot better (he still plays at grandparents but not home).
I still have a lot to work on his eating habits but I will add oil!!!
Add oil together!!!!
My girl is playful, and doesn't want to be tied up in high chair. As a result, she went here and there, and just ate several spoonful of rice (not those congee-like) and meat only.
my bb still only like congee, little noodle and rice
7:30-8:00 8oz milk
10:00 bread, cheese or little noodle
1:00 congee
3:00 apple or banana or yurgort
4:00 6oz milik
7:00 congee

10:00 6oz milk
