I want to travel with husband, 21 month kid, indonesian helper to Singapore for 4 - 5 days end of May. Do we need to buy two packages for this combination? I want our baby sleep with us. We don't mind sleeping in one big room. Any good hotel with baby play room introduced? I also want convenient location where shopping and eating are easy. Besides, any itinery suggested for my small baby?
If you have more time and at the same trip travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, then it will be more interesting.
Malaysia is a interest place for shopping and funs.
And eats and buys are not expensive. Are you plan to take bus or train from Singapore to Malaysia?
For bus, should be more than 5 hours. Quite long.
But should be the economical way.
I’ve been in Spore for 4D3N last December. We have total 5 persons, couple with 2 kids (3Y&1Y) and a helper.
Day 1
Arrived at hotel by ~2pm, settled down and went to Merlion Park, Esplanade, Parliament area and a street near the river which was full of small restaurants. Have an afternoon drink there and then back to hotel at 7pm. Dinner buffet at hotel.
Day 2
Set off at 11am and went to Singapore Zoo. Lunch in a restaurant in the Zoo and back to hotel at 6pm. Dinner at a Chinese Restaurant in Suntec City.
Day 3
Set off at 10am and joined the Duck tour which departs at Suntec City. Lunch in Suntec City and went to Fabor Mountain and took cable car to Sentosa. Left Sentosa at 7pm after the fountain show. Dinner at hotel. (McDonald only)
Day 4
Set off at 10am and check out hotel room. Went to National Botanical Garden for a morning walk. Very refreshing and “green”. Late lunch at Nee Ang city and back to hotel to get luggage and back to HK.
Although the itin above seems no that “full”, you will find it’s very tired after the day as you need to take care a small kid. Don plan to much itin in a day since baby’s schedule is very difficult to control.
Last time I stayed in Orchard Hotel, I booked 2 rooms, that is 4 adult packages plus a child package. In you case, you may check with agent or hotel whether they allow to add 1 adult bed in one room together with an infant. Your case is different with mine since I have a 3Y kid who need to buy child package. I bought a child package for my 1Y simply because an infant ticket cost me $900 whilst a child package only cost $1230 but I get an extra bed and an extra flight seat services for the baby. You will find this extra $300 deserves much more than that esp for the extra flight seat.
I will go to S'pore with my 2.5 yr old son by end of April. I will stay at Orchard Hotel too. How's the hotel? Have you asked for connected room?
I plan to go to the Duck Tour. Do I need to make reservation in advance? How long does it last?
I also plan to go to night safari and bird park. Hope I will have enough time. After the fountain show at Sentosa, is it easy to take a taxi back to hotel?
I don't think I will have time for shopping. Any good shopping area near the hotel?
Hotel not bad, I am not sure which ‘wing’ that I lived, it looked like newly renovated. Connected room? I have too but don’t expect the 2 rooms are connected by a door between the rooms. It was just 2 rooms at the same corner and both doors are very close and have another door that control the access to that corner, but unfortunately, you don have the key for that door. It was very interesting that there was a big window in the room that the sleeping area can ‘see-through’ the bathroom
Honestly, my family don enjoy the duck tour although we spent S$150 on it. As they mentioned in the brochure, it was an ex-army vehicle (which means very old). It has no air-con, very noisy and using diesel as fuel and therefore very smoky (I mean dark smoke) and hot. You have no mood at all. Since it has only 30-40 seats for each tour, suggest you book the seat first if you really want to go. The ticket was sold in a counter in Suntec City (block 2?).
Why you choose night safari and birds park? If you haven’t been to Spore, suggest u go to zoo and botanical garden first rather than the other two. It will be more suitable for small kids since they will scare in night safari. Also, beware that it is extremely difficult to get taxi in Spore after 10pm unless you pay extra S$5 to call a taxi. Since I have a big problem to back to hotel after dinner at Suntec City in Day2, I took MTR in day 3 back to hotel from Sentosa.
For shopping, no la! Nothing special to shop in Spore. I just buy few tees in zoo for kids.
A very interesting trip that I want to share to all BK audience.
We were introduced by our Singapore friends in our last trip that we went up to a Golf Resort at Johor Bahur, a city in Malaysia right next to Singapore. It is very convenience where we called the taxi driver ( I can give any of you some of their mobile to you by e-mail, they all can speak Cantonese or Mandarin) and they picked us from our hotel at any time we want to go (we checked out from the Singapore hotel and then the drive came over to pick up us) and he will drive to the boarder. We just have to stay in the taxi in the whole trip and passed over the PASSPORT over the window to the Customs.
Then the drive brought us to a taxi stand just like a normal taxi stand in KCRC station. From there we can exchange Malay Riggins and then transferred our belongings to another Malaysia taxi to our destination.
The Singapore Taxi driver is very helpful and they can co-ordinate the Malaysian Taxi driver to wait for us ( I also got few mobile no. for those Malay driver)
We then went to the Sofitel Resort hotel next to Johor Airport and we had a very enjoyable days . They have a 50m Olympia Pool, fun pool, spa, tennis courts, bicycle ride, 18 holes golf etc... Many Singapore travelled to JB for holidays / golf etc..just like we went up to Shenzhen during holidays.
The Resort rate is much cheaper than Sentosa, something like Riggins 200 ( HK$ 440 )
And they have Chinese restaurant and another one serving different cuisine buffets every nites.
We also brought the budget air tickets via Air Asia from Johor to KL and the fare is just around HK$50 per person ( 1 hr flight)
I can give you any particular details if you send me an e-mail.
