and the maid that they have no holidays (they crossed out the first 3-month holidays from the chart for me) !!!

yes. its statutory holiday, even if you pay her, it cant replace her holiday, you must let her off anyhow. but no pay la...first 3 months will have no pay...just like the xmas time, another 2 statutory holiday, you must let her off as well, but no pay. of coz if you want to pay her, you could la. but its illegal to keep her home ar, you must let her know its her day off with no pay, if she is willing to spend the day with you, then no problem la, as long as she knows its her statutory holiday.
