Tips for staying well abroad:
- Be meticulous about washing your hands before you eat;
- Drink plenty of bottled water, particularly in hot climates;
- Avoid unpasteurized foods and shellfish;
- Resist the temptation to buy delicacies from market stalls (they may have been recycled or reheated, and may contain harmful bacteria);
- Peel fruit and avoid watermelons, which are often spiked and then immersed in water to make them larger and juicier;
- Refuse ice in drinks - it may be made from contaminated water.
