My maid admitted that she stole $500 from my pocket and made LD call for over $4600. I called the police to arrest her today. As she works for me for 2 months only, I am supposed to give $3000 to the agent for the first 6 months, then give the balance to her. In this case, do I still to pay agent the money as the maid owed me over $4600? :-(
Last Sat I found out that I lost $500, then I asked my Indonesian maid and she didn't admit it. So I checked her room and her bag and didn't find the money. Then I called 999 and asked police what to do. But I told them that I don't have any proof as I can't find the $500 from her. Then police said I can go to the police station to report the case.
Today my husband got his mobile phone bill and found that the maid made a lot of phone call. Then I took my maid to the agent and we asked whether she stole my money and use my phone to call any of her friend. In the beginning she still didn't admit it, but after I showed her all the phone bill, she admit that she stole the money and made all the phone call. Actually I chose another maid already in the beginning of Aug, but still pending for Immigration department to approve her application. The existing maid didn't know I applied another maid. I am so unlucky!!!
When I was with the agent today, the maid did write a letter and admitted that she stole the money and use my phone to make LD call. I gave it to the police as well. But it was written in Indonesian, and then agent told her to write it.
I told the agent that I don't want to give her this month's salary, as my loss is more than that. The agent said that I have to pay it, but I will ignore it first. I will call the Immigration department on monday, but I don't know whether they can help me or not.
I think the police isn't very helpful in the beginning, they don't want me to charge her as they think this is a small case. They think $500 is only a small amount and told me that I have to go to court later on for several time. But I told them that I don't mind spending extra time on this. Originally they also want me to bring my maid back to home. Then I asked when I have to bring her to home if I found that she stole my money!
