Hi, I'm from the US and married to a HK husband. We've chosen to send our child to a local (i.e., Chinese language) kindy in Shatin, and are now applying for her to attend a local primary school as well. We want her to speak Chinese well, which might not be possible if she studied in international schools from kindy. She speaks English fine and has started reading books so hopefully I can keep up some of her English language education at home. You could let your child study in a local kindy so they pick up Cantonese, then go into an international or "direct subsidy" local school (some of which are bilingual). But it depends on how much you value their learning Cantonese; there are many bilingual kindies around, for example "Think International" or "Boxhill" both in Ma On Shan...
