My baby started to have ezema when he was 4 months old and the situation got worst after I introduced semi solids in 6 months. I took him to the doctor who carried out a skin test, the result showed that he is indeed alergic to a number of meat but not all. Like my baby is allergic to pork and chicken and rice. After I eliminate the allergic food in his diet, his skin is significantly better. If you suspect your child is allergic to certain stuff, may be you should take your child to do a test in that case your child can avoid those that will cause allergic reaction rather than finding out by trial and error.

Thank you very much for your advice. Can you tell me how the skin test conducted? Is the test available in regular paediatrician's clinic and how much is the charge?
As you find that your baby is allegic to certain kinds of food, will you try to feed him when he is older or you will never give him those food?
Sorry for bothering you with so many questions!!

That's OK, I know how anxious you are as I went through the same thing. The procedure is very simple, it is called the prick test, essentially it will dropped about 50 droplets to the sufface on the back of baby. Each droplet represents a different allergen like duskmite, pollen, clothing materials, meat, vegetable etc. The droplets are to leave on the skin for 20 minutes. if baby is to have an allergic reaction, there will be a red mark on the skin and by measuring the size of the marks we can be able to tell what substance the baby is allergic to. The baby will be a little discomfort but not too much. As baby grow older, his immune system will be more developed and natually he can eat more variety of food. So be patient, your child's condition will improve gradually.
The test itself cost HK$1350, consultation fee is $500 plus medication of around $600 for the first time. It is not cheap but it is worth it to see my baby have clear skin and his skin symtom under control. My doctor is both a pediatrist and a dermotologist, she give sound advice on skin care also. I can pm the details to you if you are interested.
Good luck to you and your child, if you have more questions, you are welcome to contact me again.
