stay home moms - do you let your maid talk on the mobile phone?
my baby is due delivery next month, so there's not too much to do around the house yet.
maid has finished all the assigned work, so she talks on her mobile phone (around 30 minutes)...do you think it's ok?

Should not allowed. Can you imagine how long she talk over the phone when you go to work? If you accepted her to talk mobile more than 30 mins when you are stay at home.

Never. Once you let them talk on the mobile phone during day time, they will take it for granted even you set the time limit to them.
On the very first day my helper arrived, I had already told her that no mobile phone is allowed during working time. She can use her phone only after work. If she did not agree with her, she could leave now. So far, she is following the rules.

My maid is new in HK. She hasnt got any friends here. Even if I asked her to go out and make some friends, she said she would prefer to stay at home and read. She found the other Filipino maids too noisy. hehe so talking on mobile phone isnt a problem at all. Sometimes if she has nothing to do in the afternoon, we will watch TV together (coz I am still on maternity leave) but she also prefers to read.

No way... They like talking on mobile phone very very much. My ex-maid (印印) spends more than $400.00 on phone card each month. The worst thing is she will learn a lot of "naughty and tricky things" from her friends. Once she asked me to lend her money to buy phone cards. I refused and she asked my mother's maid. The more she talked on phone, the more lazy she was! Finally, I fried her without hesitation. :evil:

No no no, you should tell her all rules at the beginning. Also, you should be very strict at the beginning. Because once your baby arrived, she has to do a lot of things. Then she may feel it is a hard time for her in compare with the honey moon period.
My friend was in your same situation. After her baby was born, the maid didn't perform well and hard working enough . So, she fired her as a result. That is also not so good, because she had to find another maid during the busiest time.

I already told her not to 講電話 unless she has our permission. But we found her always 講電話 in day time. She even tell lies but saying didn't 講電話 but we saw her did it over the cam. What should I do ? Can I fire her by using this reason ?

as long as...
1, she finishes all the work
2, I don't need her to do anything at the moment
3, when I call her, she'd hang up and come to me immediately.

I think you can take photo from cam and keep record and then give her serveral warning letter about this matter.
