renew canada passport in HK

my Canada passport will expire very soon & would like to renew in HK. as I return to HK for 5 years & afraid they may question why I stay in HK ? will it be a problem??

Don't worry! No one will care and ask you why you leave Canada for so long. A lot of non-resident stay in HK even much longer than you. And keep on renewing their passport for every five years without any problem.

I believe it takes 10 to 15 working days. You can check their web site for sure.

我相信無人理你為什麼在香港renew, 只要你是合資格換就ok, 不過我要提你如果你離開canada太耐e.g. 已幾年, 當你返去時, 海關一定問你點解, 因為我試過.

好簡單,話比佢聽你已是非加拿大居民(non-resident). 回來只是探親或是旅遊. 臨走前記得係機場海關處claim返d GST.

REMARK: 當然你要真係 non-resident 至好嗊做, 如果唔係監都有得你坐.

咁如果冇申請做non-resident ,而又相隔好幾年先返canada,咁機場海關會點做架? 而我又可以做d乜呀?

我都無declare non-resident, 上次是同老公去渡蜜月順道探家姐, 我答個海關這幾年在港照顧親人, 而這亦是是實無騙他, 不過佢見我在passport上填canada's address, 就challenge我應該填返hk address, 仲要我即場改添, 真係嚇死我嫁, 因為唔知會唔會激嬲佢唔比我入境or搜你一輪行李夠死啦, 好彩都無事.

Non Resident : 唔一定要申請. 只要你行動上已証明自己是non resident 就已經可以了. 如在tax AR 已報了不在加拿大定居. 通知銀行幫你扣除利息的稅款. 取消了醫療保險. 沒有房屋 etc. 詳情請看加拿大政府網頁. 若未能做到 non-resident 的要求. 就算申請了都冇用.

如果你沒有non resident 的資格. 亦沒有什麼大不了. 照跟海關講這幾年返咗香港住. 你已取了 passport 即是加拿大合法公民. 就算你唔係加拿大居住, 你仍然有權自由出入加拿大及擁有加拿大passport. 只不過你在香港(環球)的收益是要交加拿大的稅.

當然如你祇有楓葉証的話(即 PR). 你就真係要好好準備解釋為何離開加拿大這麼久了!

唔比入境就一定唔得啦! 妳是合法公民! 但搜你一輪就一定得. e個係海關的權力!

係囉, 帶咗d正野過去比家姐, 萬一搜到就.... 講笑姐. 不過我同機好多人要搜呀, 因為見他們被海關折停過去另一面搜行李, 都咪話唔驚.

想問:如果我姐姐(已持有楓葉証及加拿大passport),但離開canada時並未申請做Non Resident,留港工作已有好幾年,現想報返做Non Resident,不知有何程序呢? 需要什麼文件? 要交返幾多%既tax income比canada gov.? 係唔係一定要返canada申請? 另外,有什麼需要注意呢?

如妳姐姐本身已符合 non-resident 的身份. 就算冇 claim non-resident 的 status 都冇 mud 所謂. 我都冇 claim 到.

如妳姐姐不符合 non-resident 的身份, 那麼在港收益要繳交加拿大稅. 至於掂交法? 交幾多? 這個我就唔清楚! 因為我唔駛交. 唔好意思, 幫妳唔到!

離開canada後,她在canada冇屋,冇存款,冇claim medical insurance,但在香港,佢同husband剛剛做埋左業主要供樓,咁佢係咪已經唔符合 "non-resident 的身份"la?

Were you a non-resident in 2005?
You were a non-resident of Canada for tax purposes in 2005
if you did not have residential ties in Canada and:
■ you lived outside Canada throughout the year (except if
you were a deemed resident as defined on this page); or
■ you stayed in Canada for less than 183 days in the year.
What are residential ties?
Residential ties include:
■ a home in Canada;
■ a spouse or common-law partner (see the definition in
your tax guide) and dependants who stayed in Canada;
■ personal property, such as a car or furniture in Canada;
and
■ social ties in Canada.
Other ties that may be relevant include a Canadian driver’s
licence, Canadian bank accounts or credit cards, and health
insurance with a Canadian province or territory.
For more information about residential ties, get
Interpretation Bulletin IT-221, Determination of an
Individual’s Residence Status, or contact the International Tax
Services Office.

Were you a deemed resident in 2005?
You were a deemed resident of Canada for tax purposes in

temporarily stayed in Canada for 183 days or more in 2005
and, under a tax treaty, you were not considered a resident
of another country.

The 183-day rule
To calculate the number of days you stayed in Canada

■ the days you worked in Canada; and

If you lived in the United States and commuted to work in
Canada, do not include commuting days in the calculation.

大部分 "photomax" 或 "kodak" 都有得映加拿大 passport photo. 記住映相時唔好笑! 依果係政府規定!
