my friend's son who is 9 years old want to join the summer school/camp in Vancouver. However, I have YMCA in mind only, do you have any other suggestions or web site that I can provide to my friend?
Elly,
Do you mean summer school to study English? Or summer activities such as craft work, swimming, dancing?
If it is English, I think individual school has it posted on their web site for overseas student. Start from where they live and search around the school nearby.
O.... in this case, I mean summer day camp like those from science world and YMCA. My friend just want her son to be more independent and hope he can be more outgoing as he will be study overseas when he get more older. Do you have any others idea apart from the above two organization?
thanks!
Elly,
Do you want the kids to go for swimming, ice-skating, or like craft work? Each community centre has their activities throughout the year and they charge same price eventhough you are non-resident. But I think the basic is start from the area they live.
My neigbour's son came for summer to attend swimming class. I send my daughter, just 4yrs old, to swimming, ice-skating and trampoline.
Or Chinese church usually has different activities as my daughter also attend SUN school for craft work and singing.
I think HK has more activities, such as outward bound, "Wong Po military school". My 2 nephews attended both and now they are with CAS and boy scot. Is it very important to come to Canada if they just want to be independent? If they are not good in english, they may feel embrass to participate. My neigbour's son is 10yrs old and the church people said he is very shy.
