Is it easy to travel by public transport.? Will the weather in Tasmania be very cold at that time, so there will be nothing worth visiting?

It will be cold and rainy, not a good time to go to that part of Australia. Sydney and Brisbane will be much better.

Do you mean both Melbourne and Tasmania are very cold? I know summer is not the best time to go to Australia, but it will be much cheaper to go there in July than in January.
