my boy has been trying around one week before 5 months old..
he opens his month when he sees the spoon, but still doesnt really know how to swallow yet
I will give my little girl rice cereal when she reaches 6mths old. According to WHO guideline, baby's digest system will not be mature to digest non-milk food before 6mths old.

I started to give him rice cereal since he turned 4 month(not everyday) only been feeding him more regularly recently. Our doctor suggested that we could give him some solid food before 6 month, so he would get used to eating solids.
Because by 6 month, a baby's iron store in the body will be all gone, and needs to take in extra iron and other vitamins from solid food, only milk is not enough. and since I've been feeding my baby solids, he will be fully adopted in eating solid food by 6 month, no need to "train" him anymore, which may take 1-2 month.
Rice cereal is pretty easy to be digested, so it's a good food to start with. Vegetables are great too.
I started to give rice cereal to my bb when she was 4
months + 4 days as at that moment she don't want to
drink milk. My friend (who was is day care) told me she
prefer solid food, so I gave her until now, she is okay.
Even the first day she aleady know how to swallow and
didn't "bu" it out
