My son is 8-1/2 month now and I remember when he was about 3 month old. He had gone for 4 days without a single sign to poop. I panicked and called the peditrian and was told that was normal. Some babies have more bowel movements and some dont. Its normal for many breastfed babies to having fewer bowel movements somewhere between 1-3 month of age. Some will even go for several days between movements. Thats because as babies gets bigger, they need more food, so their bodies digest more of whats going in - resulting in fewer by-products (poop) Others will continue their prodigious production rates as long as they are nursing. Thats normal too. But if you believe you baby is constipate (feel hard in their tummies and poop as hard as rocks or thicker than peanut butter) In that case, give him/her a small amount of pear juice mixed with water 1:1 portion no more than 3 oz. a day) Constipation is rarely a problem for breastfed babies, and infrequency isnt a sign of it. Good luck to all of the moms here and anywhere. We are doing the best we can to raise a healthy and happy baby.
How old is your baby? Have you tried to nurse/feed him/her a smaller amount at a time but more frequent?
When my son was little over 4 month old. He would eat 3-4oz then stopped. (I feed him every 3 hour, 6 feedings per days) Then I tried to feed him every 4 hours and he finishes his bottle in no time and cut down to 5 feeding.
well then...Do you think she might be too hot? We all tend to eat less during summer because the heat lower our appetite. Try to feed her a little bit at a time and see what happen? I understand your feeling as a first time mom myself, so many things we dont know.
