You can have TB skin test and it's safe during pregnancy!
If the result is negative, no need to do chest x-ray. Otherwise, you might be able to take the x-ray after giving birth. Of course, don't take the risk to take x-ray during pregnancy! Talk to the doctor!
its that from your experience? I have read from forums that chest xray is a must. we prefer not to hav it done but just dunno how much of a delay will that make to my visa approval. :(
You need to call the embassy to see if they can waive the chest x-Ray. Any lay person knows that you cannot have any x-Ray during pregnancy. Make sure you tell them you are pregnant and you need a doctor\'s note for their record.
Yes, I know someone who was pregnant when she's supposed to take the immunizations, etc. for her green card. But she was working in here and that was probably about 10 years ago! She told the civil doctor that she's pregnant, and the doctor told her that she could take the TB skin test and no vaccines would be given until she's given birth. Since she was negative for her TB test, it's not required to take the chest x-ray.
As I said, just tell the doctor who will be doing your physical exam that you're pregnant and s/he will know what u can and cannot do at this stage. The doctor will protect your little one; otherwise, s/he will malpractice!
