This week, my maid went to the Immigration Department to renew the employment contract. I have put all the personal documents , like bank account statement , into a SEALED envelope. However, the people in the immigration department asked my maid to call me , saying that my account only got HKDxxx,xxx, which is below immigration's minimum requirment of HKD350,000.00 !!!!

First of all, I cannot understand why I employ a maid for 2 years , and need to have a min deposit of HKD350,000.00. But this could be my fault as I have overlooked this point.

But secondly I was so upset that why the immigration people does not call me directly, but instead they ask my maid to call me !!!! My bank account deposit is my privacy !!! Will anyone wants to expose to their maids or 3rd party ????? If I want to expose, I would not put into a sealed envelope. But it seems they do not care about this !!!!!!!!!!!

For me, their behaviour is totally rediculous and unacceptable. But as a small potatoe, what could I do !!!!!!!!!!

我估你應該無收入, or收入唔夠, 至需要提供bank account資料証明可以support到請工人, 因為我好肯定我無提供戶口証明
其次, 你叫得工人去幫你遞申請, (我自己唸), 工人就係你proxy, 咁由佢處理資料亦好正常, 如果你覺得果d個人資料係秘密, 下次自己去就唔怕啦.........(唔好忘記果份係合約, 一方係你一方係工人, 佢唔算第三者)

Yes. File a compliant after everything's done.

For your information, I used to write on that envelope "Confidential, to be opened by addressee only"

我自己覺得封信封作用不大囉! 邊個知道個信封最後係邊個拆? 就算個工人拆咗信封先交文件俾入境處都唔會有人知啦! 入境處會唔會confirm話係由佢哋拆個信封呢? (我唔知所以我都想問) 唔想俾人盜用資料, 唯一可以做o既就係喺有關文件上面橫跨寫明只作乜嘢用途, 唔想俾工人睇到有關文件就唯有自己同工人一齊去, 唔過工人手.

係呀, 我有一次請現成工人, 就陪佢去, 入境處職員可能見我大肚, 同我講話我唔駛親身來架, seal 咗個信封就得, 工人唔會開到, 但係中途點樣開, 邊個會知, 入境處咁多野做, 邊得閒concern 你個信封有冇開過, 我唔放心, 同個工人一起去囉.

I cannot understand why Immigration does not prepare a special envelop (like the green or pink one for taxation). So employer could put all the personal documents inside and then sealed it. So the maids could not replace the envolope, and minimize the chance that they opened it.

唔係咁講噃,我叫工人拎野去辦手續,唔代表佢可以睇我既文件.
我向Immi Dept申請姐,無必要disclose我既任何資料比工人架!
呢d係行政失當.
樓主,
你最好問番個工人,佢有無拆過你既信封先.
如果無,一d要投訴!
