My new maid took the 1st day leave yesterday after having the 1st month salary. I told her she can go out at 8.00 but need to come back at 21.00. But finally, she came back at 23.00. Her excuse is she lost the way home.
My concern - she only worked for me only for 1 month and this was the 1st time to take leave, I think it is unacceptable for being returning home too late.
If her working performance is ok, will you fire her?
If it was me, I would be very careful about firing in case she reports you as she is entitled to 1 day rest day off per week and you have been restricting her rest days. You should issue her a verbal warning first and also tell her that she has to phone home if she's going to be late. Did you employ her through an agent? If so, let the agent have a word with her as well if it happens again.
