I didn't change my surname. Why do you have to if you dont want to?
Was in similar situation. I married an Australian, but kept my own surname for 5 years until I was expectng 1st baby.
My concern was the same - too much work to change everything.
My passport was up for renewal that year, so I changed that by providing my marriage certificate. After that, I used my passport & marriage certificate to update my driver licence. Then used passport & driver licence to update everything else. For a few years after that I carried 2 licences, the old one with my maiden name & the current one - in case I had to prove why I had 2 names.
It is still a pain when I go for interviews - all education documents in maiden name, all other in married name.
