hi, my maid has resigned already.
she will leave at the end of next month

1 or 2 days ago she packed up her things
in a large 'red white blue' bag & her luggage

on Sunday morning the 'rwb' bag disappeared!

how can we make sure she won't take away
things which do not belong to her

check her luggage on the last day is no use
since she may hv taken away some already beforehand

any idea please?

Hi, clmutter

It is difficult to avoid that she takes away
things which do not belong to her. What you can do is that you do not put the valuable property in your home and make an inventory of your property items. Maybe you can set a camera/cameras to record the activity in your home.

Anyway, may I ask you some questions ?

1. Do you need to pay your maid any money as long service payment ?

2. How much do you paid to her ?

3. Did she sign any resignation letter?

If you do NOT have an adult stay at home in day time with your domestic helper, I suggest you make a neutral agreement with your maid and let her leave your home at once without any notice or money in lieu of notice. Of course, it must make a BLACK and WHITE and ask her to sign on it. In addition, you could record down by video Camera and ask your agency to be a witness.

Finally, did your domestic helper give a resignation letter to you and it has her signature? Becareful she make a trick on you. After she left your home and go to labour department complaint your fired her illegal.

thank you for all your advice.

We refused to give her any long service payment amount
but promised to give her 1 month money as some kind of bonus or gift.
She did give us a resignation letter.

I wonder why she is so anxious to get marry,
even to give up more than $10,000.-

And is it too late to set up a camera now
since she is leaving soon?

Anyway thank you very much for your help.

The population of Philiphine women are more than that of Philiphine men and many philipino maids are single/divorced. Maybe she wants to stay in the Philippines to have children and a normal family life after getting married. If she continues to work in Hong Kong, she will easily get divorced. The Philiphine men whose wife working abroad usually have underground love "婚外情".

I think it is not too late as you said she will leave at the end of next month. Beyond you, by using cameras, can keep an eye whether she will steal your valuable properties or not, you can use the cameras to watch whether your maid works properly or not when you are not at home.
