The whole process was quite fast. I only submitted application to Canada office in May this year, one month after, they charged my credit card. By the 3rd week of Aug, my file was transferred to HK visa office to process. I received their request for medical check and police cert by end of Sept. I did our medical check (for whole family of 4 with 2 young kids, 1.5 & 3 yrs old) and obtained cert on Oct 3. I then received request for passports with the latest land date by Oct 2015 on Dec 19. Now, we have sent in our passports and waiting to hear back.
The CIC website states the processing time is approx. 8 months from the application received if your application is complete. So far, our process was quite smooth, did not ask for any additional documents or interview.
Good luck to you.
Hi CKKBB,
My 1st choice is Vancouver but 2nd choice is Toronto if my current company can transfer me. So, I am not 100% confirmed too but we must go in Sep 2015, still looking for options...we should stay in touch if we happen to land the same place.
Thanks for your reply!
Hi smallturtles,
Thanks for your reply! Are you also planning to land in Vancouver? Are you planning to use any mover or know which one is better?
Thanks!
I heard Vanpac is good but not cheap, half of the container costs about HKD35,000 if share with someone. I have 2 small children (1.5 and 3).
How about you? Which area are you planning to live? We are planning to rent a temp place to stay first then when we land, we'll search for a perm home.
Stay in touch and hope to exchange information with you about our move.
I did not use an agent and I don't have a job sponsor. The medical process is fairly simple and just regular body check. I think if there is any issue, the HK visa office will inform and the clinic will not make any comment or further contacts regarding your results.
Roytck,
Which city did you choose in your application form ? Vancouver or Toronto ? Do you know if I stated Toronto in the form, can I change to Van later ?
thanks
Yes, you can always change it. I chose Toronto at first on the form but when I was invited to attend an orientation program, I then changed to Vancouver. There is no restriction on where you need to land on our PR visa once the visa office grants you.
It's an virtual orientation with several people for a whole day section and an one hour one-on-one session organized by CIIP, office based in China, not in HK. A very informative session and I received an invitation by CIC during the application process.
I am looking for a 2-bedroom apartment to rent either in Burnaby or Richmond first. But, it seems that we could only rent from vocation type of rental with higher prices before we actually arrive so we can find a cheaper ones to rent.
Is that the case for you? I see many of the decent ones require references check.
