I want to go to Bangkok with my husband, 2 small kids and 2 grandparents. I am not sure if we should take package or join tour. If there are 6 of us, does it mean that we need to take 2 taxis all the time. I don't know how good is the public transport in Bangkok.
Could someone tell me what the transport condition is like there? I like to have my own choice with the food and places to go. However, I am worried about travel arrangement.
For Thailand Bangkok, I usually go by myself. Because join tour, the tour guide will bring us to the places for shopping, buy souvniors and they will get tips from those places. so boring.
Bangkok is worth to go for shopping but by yourself because when you go by yourself you will find more places/sunday markets to buy special things.
For traffic condition there, bangkok usually got traffic jam, and when you get "taxi" you need to argue the fare before you get on the taxi especially the route to airport. Last time the taxi driver forces us to pay certain amount of fare to go to airport, we refuse and get off the taxi, so when you get taxi you should talk to the driver first if they do not follow the taxi meter.
for shopping, you can go to Siam Square, Emporium Centre, World trade centre.
Thanks for yr comments. My kids are still small and in kindegarten level. My in-laws are over 75.
I have the same opinion with you as to travel arrangement. As English is not widely used, I think it will not be that easy to get around BKK. Most likely we will join tour this time to save all the hassles with transport and hotel arrangement. As you said, next time I can just join a package if I am going with my husband alone.
