My maid has just bought a mobile phone. This morning, she had 2 phone calls. Do you allow your maid to have phone calls in the daytime? My husband said it's quite difficult to prohibit her to have phone calls as she may still have phone calls when we go out. Pls advise. Thanks.
no, because I told her that she could not use the phone at home except for emergency calls and also she could not possess mobile phone and so far no problem. But if your maid already possesed mobile phone, you better talk to her that she could not use the mobile phone during work. Also, perhaps you keep her mobile phone during weekdays and give it back to her on her day off.
I keep the mobile phone for my maid, whenever she has her holiday, I return it to her. Even in the night time, my maid does not make any calls, she just uses her mobile phone when she is in holiday.
My maid and the former one also let me keep their mobile phones as I told them when they arrived my house.
I have the same problem with my maid. I know she have a mobile and I heard some calls during Sat but she always said is SMS. And I also saw her made calls in the afternoon when she let my younger son to sleep. But she is very clever, she will finish the call before I come out or just before I can see her!! But I am sure she make a lot of calls during weekdays when we go to work becuase my friend told me she always see my maid holding mobile phone!!
But I cannot hold her mobile since she bougth by herself and pay the bills by her own!! It seem it will break our good relationship!!
To be honest, I also will make personal phone calls during office hours (of course, not as much as her la)
Thanks for your advice. I am quite angry today. Because 1) my mother said the maid had 2 phone calls (at least 10 minutes) during work. When my son cried, my mother asked the maid to take care him. Then, she completed the call. Afterwards, my son slept, she made phone calls again. 2) After day-off, she had to wash her (many) clothers for half-hour in day-time. This afternoon, my mother said it was sunny and asked her to wash clothers. Finally, she washed all her clothes. Then she informed my mother that it may be raining. Hence, she didn't wash our clothes.
I just informed her not to make phone calls during work. Hope the situation can improve ! I will also ask her to wash her clothes at night instead of day-time.
My maid is Indonesia and is working for 9 months. I don't know why she is so rich. She bought a mobile phone and paid $5,000 for laser facial treatment.
I have the same problem, for my 1st philipine maid - Della, she seem to be very rich, she got her own mobile, she wear very pretty every Sunday with a big big bag. Finally, I find she stolen a lot of things fm my house (washing powder, rice, cleaning detergent, etc...). She talking a lot at the day time and not do any housework. At that time I only have dogs and baby still not come. She didn't take care of my dogs and one of the dog died due to her careless. I fired her when my new maid nearly to arrive. I give her 1 month pentalty and ticket and send her back to Philipine. After 2 months, I received the mobile phone bill arround hkd2000. Lucky it is under her name and I just phone back to the mobile company and told them she was fired and I don't need to pay the charges. After 6 months, I received a call fm a finanical company, they told me she borrow money from their company and need to find her. They keep calling arround 1 week and said they will come. At the beginning, I was so scare since at the daytime it only have my new maid and my son at home, I don't want any trouble, I explain to them the old maid already fired long time ago. And luckly, after I fax them the letter of the termination and the letter I send to the Immegration Dept. They stop calling me.
Now, the new philiphine maid EVA is better, she never work outside before, and she have 3 kids in Philiphine. When I hired her, I already mention int the contact there is no weekend holiday, she can take holiday on Friday or any weekday. At the begining, she is excellent. Since me and my husband already went to China, and only left her and baby in HK. I feel sorry for her since it must be very boring without going out. So, lateron, I left her to take holiday on Sunday. But recently, she become lazy and she got a mobile phone one month ago. Then the phone ringing all the time. Im now trying to talk to her, if she become worser I will fired her again. Anyway, don't treat the maid too well. They just think you are stupid!!
