I am going to have cessarian section in St. Teresa hospital soon. The doctor told me that I am not allow to get out of bed in the first 24 hrs after operation, and the nurse will not bring the baby to my room. So, that's mean I will not contact my baby in the first 24 hrs. Does it affect the milk production? Do you think that I should arrange milk pump (bring my own or borrow the one from hospital) and start pumping milk on the first day?
Do you have similar experience?
I really worry that my baby is full and do not interest to my milk after fed by the nurse
Borrow from hospital is better as their pump is the professional one, so you can pump out the milk easily.
As cherrian said you must tell the nurse that you will fed your baby. They will assit you to do so.
You know why your doctor told you not to get out of bed in the 1st 24 hrs? I also have C section in STH and I went to breastfeed my little one as long as I was able to. I've forgotten the exact time, but definitely within 24 hours. You may ask your doctor again to make sure whether it's a must or a recommendation only.
Even if you can't breastfeed your baby in the 1st 24 hours, you still be a breastfeeding mom as long as you are willing to do so. Since most of the moms don't get enough milk in the couple of days and have to get fomula milk as supplement.
Don't worry too much. Just relax & enjoy the time exclusive for your baby & you only.
