I have been to Cebu from 8 - 11 July. My personal opinion is that the Shangri-La Resort in Cebu is better than the one in Kota Kinabalu, when considering the facilities but not in food quality. The swimming pools of the Shangri-La Resort in Cebu are good. The beach is a private one, not too big. We tried the jet-ski. My son went to the beach and played with the sand everyday when we were there. But if you don't want to go out from the resort, you need to bring your own sand bucket and spade...... Ha! we also tried fish feeding at the beach, quite interesting. There are a lot of choice for different kind of food. The food from the chinese restaurant was terrible. The italian restaurant was the best I think, perfect environment, good food. The one just next to the sea was a good try, the environment was perfect while the food was so-so. The Asiatica (correct spelling?), well, OK, but my son complained the food was too hot for him. Anyway, just thinking that, each meal, spending about HK$ 250 for 3 persons, in a 5-star hotel, should be a good try. My hubby and I tried the halo halo. I ended up in tummy-ache but not my husband. The breakfast was good! I liked the mangoes. Yum.......
For the kids, especially 3-5, don't miss the galleon (with an outdoor playground and indoor toy room).
The hotel provides free shuttle bus service downtown including the ShoeMart and Ayala Shopping Malls. The travelling time is about 30 mins for ShoeMart and 40 mins to Ayala. I visited both. You can find 7D dried mango from both Shopping Malls supermarket but Goldilocks bakery is only at Ayala.
It is better to stay inside the resort in the evening.
I joined the CX package. The trip was easy. The package included packing up from the airport to the resort by a private car and also from the resort back to the airport. The activities were swimming in the pools, enjoying the beach, playing at the Galleon, eating and shopping.
Last of all, I think Cebu is worth to go once. But my son likes Singapore more than Cebu.
Maybe due to the case that some visitors visiting Philippines had been kidnapped. This happened quiet a long time ago.
Anyway, Shangri-La Mactan Island Resort is still the paradise of a lot of Japanese, Korean, Australian, American......
I could not meet any Hong Kong people within the Resort when I was there. But I met another couple with 3 kids in ShoeMart, and some tours in the airport.
