let her settle down
- touring around in the neighbourhood
- show her where is the supermarket, newspaper stall, restaurant, wet market, etc
- introduce to her the management office and from where she can get help, all the emergency numbers, no. of the nearest police station and 999
- give her your guidelines in writing
- talk to her about your expectation and requirement
- her leave day arrangement
allowing flexibility is good but don't do it in the beginning.
from her history, you know that she should have certain experience but let's observe her for a while, e.g. 3 months or so. if she has no problem and always takes the initiative, allow her to do her work with flexibility.
just like my maids, i've told them to wash the car when it's dirty (allowing them flexibility) but very often they won't wash it until you tell them to do so.
I'm not telling you that you should be harsh to them as anyway the maid is a part of our family and we should treat them nicely. if she's a good helper, she would really help you a lot to relieve your burden in the daily chores.
Thanks prettywife for your advice, I really forget the emergency contact things. I think i will also brief her our expectation and the dos and donts tmr then. Thanks.
