I did the "half-body" last year. I think it was really good. Not terrible, just could feel the doctor pushed my tummy and some sound of equippment. During the process, I shaked my body very seriously and felt quite cold (They said it's normal).... Finally I could hear my baby's first cry and could see his little eyes looking for me when I first called his name on the bed. That's worth to do it!
I did the "half-body"in QM and my hubby could not come with me, only could stay outside the operation room. But I could go to toilet and brest-feed my baby after 16 hours.
It's not terrible and not very painful, you can't really feel, hear or see very clearly during the process. After I saw my baby, I fell asleep immediately.
I'll give birth again in Feb, 2004, I think I'll do the "half-body" again.
My first baby was under general anaethesia (i.e full body), I was really tired after caesar, so thirsty but all the other things are really good, I can get off the bed in the other day. However, I plan to have local anaethesia (i.e. half body) for my second baby in November, because my husband want to accompany with me and I really want to see my baby at the first sight, and my friend just have local anaethesia last week and she was really excited. Besides, many people claime that local anaethesia is more better than the general one.
my answer: Yes, my husband accompany with me during caesar (開刀) for local anethenia (半身痳醉) for my baby boy born in Eastern Hospital. Congragulations to your twins!
